Maltese dog

Although not much is known about the origins of the Maltese dog, they are believed to have existed well before the ancient times. They were present at ports and on ships where they were particulary good at hunting pests. Despite popular belief, the Maltese dog does not owe its name to the island of Malta.

The Maltese dog is a small dog breed with a royal appearance. The male and female are about the same weight and size. Concerning their coat, it is white, shiny, and silky. Their eyes are black and expressive.

This dog breed is intelligent, easy to train and gets very attached to those around him. As they are known to be courageous, they do not hesitate to protect their family. In addition, they get along well with children and other animals. Also, they are relatively healthy with a life expectancy that generally exceeds 15 years.
